| The old kitchen served us well and deserves one last look, as we record "The way it was." |
The little pass-through will be only a memory!
The old sink was impossible to get white.
The counters were always cluttered and the cabinets needed painting.

The microwave was on a "regular" circuit and didn't have its own place.
The stove and the pantries were just there, and usually we didn't want to know what was inside

"Stuff" was piled anywhere it would fit. Even the top of the fridge didn't escape.
It seemed like dishes never got put away.
The floor was a disgrace.
The Preparation: Everything had to be moved out!
Actually there was more "stuff" than we could put in one Sunday School room.

Jenny Wu wonders where all the "stuff" from the IEPF has gotten to.

Of course, being smart, all the drawers had to go.
They got piled "temporarily" in the Social Hall.

The "powers that be" checked to make sure everything was out
before the "DESTRUCTION" could begin.
| THE DESTRUCTION |

Harvill has to check things out before the old kitchen is ripped apart and tossed away without a second thought.

Bob checks out how they are connected to the wall (or if they are connected to the wall)
before deciding how to get them off the wall.

They are coming down!

And going out!

Who would ever have painted a wall that color? Well, at least they are gone.
The linoleum has to come up, and look at those old boards underneath.
Those will have to be covered before the new floor covering goes down.
Ev and Pastor Sylvia get in on the linoleum removal.
"Old what's his name" seems to be there too.
Looks like Ruthie is in charge of getting the old stuff out of the kitchen.

Bob starts thinking about getting the sink out.

Gotta see how to turn the water off. Hmmm! No one seems to know where the shut-off valve is.
It is down and "sinking" fast.
Dave and Bob take to the screwdriver to get the sink loose.
The trashcan looks pretty sad sitting in the stripped to the bone kitchen.
And we thought it looked bad before.
| The Renaissance |

A new light is dawning as the kitchen begins to take on its new shape.

Patching and electrical work first!

The new "pass-through window" begins its life.

Looks like this project will take a long time.

Lots of work changing the plumbing.

Ah! Smooth walls. Things can begin to happen to make this a kitchen.
The cabinets are beginning to come together.
There are a lot of cabinets
The countertops are a lot of work. Even Bob had to enlist some help.
Now it looks like progress. The cabinets begin to go up.
It's beginning to look like a kitchen.
It is almost ready for the countertops and the sink. Where's Bob?
Hey, the pass-through counter is in!
There's Bob, getting the sink ready. The double wouldn't take the disposal, so we had to go with a single.
Now that the pass-through counter and cabinets are in, wonder if the freezer will fit though the door!
That counter is ready for the sink. Now we have to find Bob!
Hey Bob! You got the sink upside down!
It's almost usable for social hour after Sunday service. That's Joe's 4th piece of carrot cake!

Yes Annie! We have hot and cold running water now.
We are in the modern age. But something has to be done about that floor.
Call Ev.

Ev found someone to do the floor. They arrived 2 hours late, but get started.
With the fiberboard layed, the paste is applied.
The linoleum is down and Troy smooths it. Almost finished.

IT'S FINISHED. All that remains is to put down some quarter round and move the stuff back in.
| It's Done!!!!!!!!! |
Checking out where things are.
The fridge and the microwave are where they should be.
Annie, Ev, and Larry doing what they do best in a kitchen. Talking!
